With the Covid-19 pandemic gradually receding behind us, there are a number of lessons waiting to be learned regarding how to respond to future pandemics. One area which was heavily affected was the economy, particularly to the most vulnerable members of society. While many have undoubtedly suffered, historical precedent suggests that wages have in the past increased subsequent to major epidemics. It is important to identify if this still holds true in the modern era, and to what extent, and to possibly develop a method to predict economic consequences based upon the success of containment and other anti-pandemic measures. Hence, we propose a study to measure the correlation between the number of Covid-19 cases and deaths in a country, with resulting changes in income. If successful, future governments will be able to forecast changes in their economy based upon immediately accessible, measurable data, and thus make more informed, earlier decisions.
