Purpose: This study aimed to explore the impact of fun-oriented jump rope instruction on elementary school students' learning outcomes, particularly focusing on improvements in their jump rope skills and learning experiences. By incorporating engaging and enjoyable activities into the curriculum, the study sought to increase students’ interest in jump rope and, in turn, enhance their learning effectiveness. Method: Adopting an action research approach, the study involved 31 third-grade students over a four-week period. A series of fun-based jump rope lessons were designed, including group competitions, jump rope games, and music-accompanied practice. Students' jump rope performance was assessed before and after the intervention and analyzed using paired-sample t-tests. In addition, qualitative data were collected through student feedback forms and teacher observation journals. Results: First of all, students demonstrated significant improvement in jump rope performance after the intervention (t = -4.609, p < .05), with an average increase of 18.03 jumps. Secondly, students expressed a strong liking for the fun-oriented lessons, reported noticeable improvement in their skills, and showed a willingness to continue practicing jump rope in the future. Last, the teacher experienced professional growth through the ongoing process of planning, implementing, documenting, and reflecting on the lessons. Conclusion: The findings confirm the positive impact of fun-oriented jump rope teaching on elementary students' learning outcomes. It is recommended that physical education incorporate enjoyable and interactive elements to enhance student engagement and motivation. Future research could explore the application of similar fun-based strategies in different sports to further improve the quality of physical education.
