  • 跨國移民的身份認同協商是社會學研究的重要課題。本研究探問:韓國女性移民 如何以跨國醫美來適應遷移地的生活並保有身份認同?本研究發現,在台韓國女性藉 由往返韓國進行醫學美容,打造具有「韓國感」身體,該身體既能使韓國女性移民和 台灣人建立關係,又能使她們保有韓國國族認同。由於近年來韓國國際地位升高,該 國籍具有文化優越地位,從而「體化的國籍」獲得台灣人的喜愛,具有「韓國感」的 身體成為一種身體資本,讓韓國女性移民在移民生活中能將自己區別出來。在此過程 中,回韓國進行醫學美容被視為是維護自身「韓國感」的可能手段;在這些移民與台 灣人相處時,該行動被賦予更多跨國移民調適身份認同的意涵。然而,在不同的移民 身份或移民生活情境中(如職場、家庭、友人社交等),身體美容的意涵也不盡相同, 會影響不同的互動方式。由此,本研究檢視身體資本如何在跨國脈絡中被生產與轉換。 跨國醫學美容實踐有助於我們了解在台韓國女性移民的頻繁跨越國界與移民生活策略, 以及她們多元又流動的身分認同。


    Negotiating identity among transnational migrants is a key sociological concern. This study investigates how Korean female migrants use transnational medical aesthetics to adapt to life in their host country while maintaining a sense of identity. The research finds that Korean women in Taiwan frequently travel back to Korea for cosmetic procedures to cultivate a “Korean look.” This embodied “Koreanness” enables them to build relationships with Taiwanese people while preserving their national identity. As South Korea’s international status has risen in recent years, Korean nationality has come to carry cultural prestige. Consequently, this "embodied nationality" is well-received in Taiwan, and a body imbued with "Koreanness" becomes a form of bodily capital that helps Korean female migrants distinguish themselves in their migrant lives.
    Within this process, returning to Korea for medical aesthetic procedures is seen to maintain one's “Korean look.” This action takes on deeper meanings related to identity negotiation and adaptation when these women interact with Taiwanese society. However, the meanings and significance of bodily aesthetics varies depending on their migration status and social context (e.g., in the workplace, family, or social settings), shaping different modes of interaction. Thus, this study examines how bodily capital is produced and transformed in transnational contexts. The practice of transnational medical aesthetics offers insights into the border-crossing strategies and diverse, fluid identities of Korean women living in Taiwan.
