The measurement for vibrotatile awareness threshold is one of the basic methods to detect peripheral neuropathies in the upper extremities in workers, increased vibrotactile threshold could also be a sign of vibration-induced neuropathy or poiynouritis and to have a further check is required. Furthermore discovery of diseases, vibrotactile awareness threshold could also be an important interaction feedback between human and machine.
Under three different frequencies (63Hz, 125Hz and 250Hz), the study divide age into three groups (20~30, 30~40 and 40~50 years old) and each group have five males and five females. After the formal research, the results are showed as following:1.Under the frequency of 125Hz, the average vibrotactile awareness threshold of index finger has the highest sensitivity in all the fingers(-4.17dB), under 63Hz, little finger has the lowest insensitivity in all the fingers(-1.00dB). 2. After comparing three different frequencies, the fingers showed better performance in the frequencies of 125Hz than in 63Hz. Compared with gender, we found the perceived intensity were higher for females in the middle finger and the thumb.
. Apart from been Taiwanese fingertip virbrotacetile reference measurement data. A full understanding of this research conclusion, as data reference for future vibrotacetile product designs will take consideration that the influence of vibrotactile in different ages, genders and frequencies will have different effect.
