Amid deteriorating US-China trade relations, COVID-19 disruptions, and rapid AI advancements, and electronic product applications have structurally changed, spotlighting the semiconductor and chip design industry. This paper explores the correlation between Company M's financial performance and macroeconomic data to understand how competitive dynamics and macroeconomic variables influence financial outcomes. We analyzed data from 2001 to 2023 using time series analysis and regression models to evaluate the effects of GDP growth, CPI Consumer Confidence Index, Taiwan's electronic export orders, US and China retail sales, and Brent oil prices, alongside critical tech sector financial metrics on Company M's financial reports.
Results reveal significant correlations between Company M's financial performance and macroeconomic indicators. US GDP growth and retail sales strongly correlate with Company M's revenue and gross margin, indicating. Rising consumer confidence aligns closely with improvements in Company M’s market performance, underscoring consumer sentiment's role in driving demand. The study also indicates that industry peers' financial health significantly affects Company M's revenue, gross margin, and inventory turnover, highlighting competitive interdependencies. Global economic volatilities during the sampling period are a primary limitation, affecting result consistency. These insights are invaluable to Company M and its investors, demonstrating the profound impacts of competitive forces and macroeconomic conditions on financial performance. Future research could explore specific policy changes' effects on semiconductor companies like Company M and assess shifts in global market conditions.
