This study aims to discuss the current state of occupational burnout among active guidance counselors in Taiwan and explore the impact of control beliefs and coping strategies on occupational burnout.
The survey was conducted through an online professional community targeting guidance counselors, with a total of 250 participating in the study.
After statistical analysis, the following conclusions were reached:
1. There is a significant correlation between the subjective stress perceived by Taiwanese guidance counselors and the state of occupational burnout.
2. There is a gender difference in the emotion exhaustion and depersonalization aspect of occupational burnout among Taiwanese guidance counselors.
3. The locus of control of Taiwanese guidance counselors shows a significant correlation with occupational burnout and can predict the state of occupational burnout.
4. Regarding coping strategies and occupational burnout, it was found that approach coping strategies can reduce the negative impact of occupational burnout, while avoidance coping strategies have a higher influence on emotional exhaustion and depersonalization aspects.
Based on the results of the study, it can be observed that both primary and secondary control beliefs among Taiwanese guidance counselors have a significant correlation with occupational burnout, with secondary control beliefs having a greater impact than primary control beliefs.
This indicates that Taiwanese guidance counselors tend to adjust their own conditions to adapt to the work environment when facing stress. Furthermore, coping strategies were also found to have a significant correlation and predictive power regarding occupational burnout.
