    Abstract

Corporate culture has been largely documented to be associated with company performance. Generally speaking, corporate culture guides employees’ behavior and influences all the decision-making processes. All of which deeply influence the company performance. Corporate culture also impacts the talent acquisition/retention as well as the corporate reputation.
The effect of corporate culture is likely industry-specific. My study is to focus on the Semiconductor industry, and particularly on TSMC, the largest semiconductor firm in Taiwan. Semiconductor companies are typically large corporations, as the industry has high entry barriers in terms of technology, R&D investment, and employee numbers. The complexity of management and organizational structure lead to the development of a unique culture in each organization, which can directly or indirectly impact corporate performance.
I examine the relationship between corporate culture and firm performance using TSMC as my case. I find that as a semiconductor company expands its capacity and adopts globalization as a key strategy to reach customers and meet demand, it is crucial to analyze what cultural dimensions are necessary to sustain corporate success.
As semiconductor employees move on to the next generation, making it necessary for companies to consider how to pass on the corporate culture and core values to younger generation to ensure continued success.
