桿狀病毒是一種桿狀、含有雙股DNA基因體的病毒,主要寄主為蝶蛾類昆蟲的幼蟲。目前最常被使用作為載體的核多角體桿狀病毒為加州苜蓿夜蛾核多角體病毒(Autographa californica multicapsid NPV,AcMNPV)以及家蠶核多角體病毒(Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedrovirus,BmNPV)。這兩個桿狀病毒,雖然都屬於核多角體病毒,但它們各自可允許(permissive)進入的寄主卻是完全不一樣。AcMNPV的寄主是夜蛾細胞(Sf9)而BmNPV的寄主則是家蠶細胞(Bm)。由於桿狀病毒會依寄主的不同,產生的表現量也會有所變化,因此想探討如何比較在不同實驗設計下,桿狀病毒與寄主之間的關係。在此我們共有四種組合,且每種組合皆有多次實驗及重複觀察值。我們試者整合這些結果並使用以伯恩斯坦多項式和分層迴歸所架構的貝氏迴歸模型,透過此模型細緻地描繪出桿狀病毒在不同寄主上隨著時間而改變的輪廓。此外,我們更進一步利用估計出的曲線探討基因表現與DNA序列如:early motif 等之間的相關性。模型的架構中使用了桿狀病毒自己本身的資訊,因此進一步利用估計出的曲線探討基因與Motifs的相關性,從分析結果可以發現,此模型估計出的輪廓能真實反映出桿狀病毒本身的特性以及它們在不同寄主之間各自的差異為何。
