This paper examines the impact of technology and FDI spillovers on firm innovation performance for Taiwan’s High-tech firms. The empirical analysis uses the frim-level data from the TEJ database during the period 2000-2017 combined with patent data. In order to solve the problem of overdispersion and zero-inflation, we use zero-inflated negative binomial regression. The empirical results show that both technology and FDI spillovers have a positive impact on the number of firms’ patent applications. The spillover effects are larger for small-sized firms relative to large firms. In addition, the stronger the firm’s R&D intensity is, the more spillover effect is.
