This thesis presents an approach to extract data from BIM to support location specific emergency response Decisions. Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a construction technology which is more and more popular. The main concept of it is to use computer and model-based process to support each stage in the life cycles of the building project. Our target is to get use of the resulting models with its data-rich content about the buildings to help emergency response.
We propose and illustrate different kinds of methods to extract data from BIM. One can combine several methods to form an appropriate extraction process for his own purpose. We also implement and integrate the methods as an open source and flexible tool. Finally, we also show several real world scenarios to demonstrate to usability of our methods and tool.
