傳統上,評估腦部腫瘤經放射線治療成效的方法,以電腦斷層攝影(Computed Tomography;CT),或是磁振造影(Magnetic Resonance Imaging;MRI)為主。主要是由腫瘤的大小、形狀、解剖位置等資訊,來判斷放射線治療是否有效,或者是失敗,腫瘤再次復發成長。
近年來,功能性磁振造影發展迅速,上世紀90年末期,陸續有許多論文提出,以磁振頻譜(Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy; MRS)來定性及定量,放射線治療後腦部腫瘤代謝物的變化,進而推論腫瘤控制率,是否復發再生。本實驗另外以表現擴散係數(Apparent Diffusion Coefficient;ADC)來定量,腦膜瘤(Meningioma)經加馬刀(Gamma Knife)治療後,腫瘤表現擴散係數變化的狀況,和腫瘤細胞膜被破壞的程度有關。以此為依據,評估腦膜瘤受一次大劑量輻射後,細胞凋亡的程度;並且比較磁振頻譜和表現擴散係數,兩種功能性磁振造影對受輻射線照射後腦膜瘤的評估效果,和優缺點。
