  • 對企業而言,新技術的研究與發展,必須具備創新的價值,才會被認同與投入,而建構適宜的營運模式及透過技術商品化的過程,是落實將技術投資轉換為價值的重要手段。
    雷射印表機是“光電成像技術(Electro Photography - EPG)”發展繼影印機後的主流產品,其關鍵技術及品牌通路,幾乎均為美、日等國所寡佔,我國雖為資訊技術產業大國,然在雷射印表機產業領域裡,目前仍以組裝代工業務為主,新技術的研究與發展仍屬萌芽階段,難以在技術/產品提供者或服務提供者與顧客間,獲取較佳之利益。
    本研究以技術創新觀點,來探討於光電成像技術領域具有多年鑽研經驗之國內某代表性個案公司,其發展新型『彩色LED印表機』 突破現有業者技術專利封鎖之較適當技術創新策略與營運模式。
    由分析結果顯示,若個案業者發揮核心技術優勢,採用『可昇級』及『超迷你』機器結構,『多容量選擇』與『無法重複使用』碳粉匣、更友善之使用者界面等突破性創新之作法,充份掌握優勢核心能力,以低價入門機種來跨越產業鴻溝,結合知名品牌通路商與國內IT大廠,建構適宜之營運模式,將可為業者創造更大的技術創新價值,甚而讓國內雷射印表機產業,無論在營運或技術發展等方面,獲致關鍵性的突破。


    New technology research & development for a firm must provide value creation, and building suitable business model with advanced technologies for commercializing new product is crucial to transfer technology investment to value.
    Laser printer is the mainstream product follows copier in the field of “Electro Photography (EPG)”. Its key technologies and market brands and channels are almost captured by the US and Japanese firms. Currently, it’s very difficult to earn substantial profits by providing manufacturing services without new technology research & development in this field in Taiwan.
    This research is to explore a suitable technology innovation strategy and business model of a case firm with over 11 years experience in the EPG field. The firm is developing an innovtive “color LED printer” to make a breakthrough despite the blockade of key players.
    The results of this case study reveal that adopting “upgradeable” & “mini” print structure, “multiple capacities” & “non-reusable” toner cartridge and user-friendly interface in a set of advanced low-cost, entry-level products are key to cross the chasm. The analysis results also show that combined with global brand and channel and OEM partner to work out a business model of technology innovation are crucial for value creation. The model could suggest the potential to make a key breakthrough on business operation and technology development in laser printer industry in Taiwan.
