IPTV has been widely used in Internet multimedia application such as ballgame live-broadcasting event, speeches and video broadcasting. By using P2P technique, we can reduce the bandwidth consumption, decrease the server loading, and make large scale video broadcasting service an inexpensive application.
However, for system administrator, beside the low-cost service, they would rather like to know the current quality of service and the quality of experience of end users. Good monitoring system can help administrator to monitor the real-time condition of the service and enhance the service quality.
This thesis proposes a design and implementation of a P2P client agent (DANA Agent) for delivering statistics of end user to the MOAM (Monitoring of Operation, Administration and Management System) system periodically. By this, we can monitor the networking performance and the player condition of end users. Using the statistics, we can combine all kind of results to measure the QoE and QoS of the IPTV service.
Besides, we use the statistics of two real events to do analysis. One of them is small scale video broadcasting in Taiwan. And the other one is a large scale ballgame live-broadcasting. In the small scale one, we use the real-time monitoring graph in the MOAM system to analyze the current performance of the system. In the large scale one, beside the networking performance measurement, we also make geographic and ISP distribution analysis of end users. Furthermore, we make a depth evaluation of the two major ISP users’ performance. Finally, we use the result from the measurement to propose suggestions for the service.
網路電視服務已被廣泛的使用在許多的網路多媒體應用上,例如即時球賽轉播,視聽演講,錄影節目播放等等。利用點對點傳輸技術,可有效節省頻寬消耗,降低伺服器附載,讓大規模的影音轉播不再是高花費的服務。
然而,對系統管理者來說,除了影音服務切入門檻降低以外,如何得知目前系統服務狀況,以及系統在使用者端的運作情形,用以監控並提升其服務品質亦尤其重要。
本篇論文提出設計並實作在客戶端的點對點網路影音傳輸引擎 (DANA Agent),讓其能周期性的傳遞客戶端統計資訊給予管理維運系統 (MOAM System),用以了解目前客戶端的網路傳輸狀況,播放器運作情形,回報使用者的收看狀況,總合多項量測結果,來評估目前系統的使用者服務經驗 (QoE)及使用者服務品質 (QoS)好壞。
此外,利用本系統所取得的資料,我們分析了兩個實際轉播案例,其一為小規模影片播放,另一為大規模即時球賽轉播。在小規模的轉播案例中,我們利用即時監控畫面來分析目前系統即時運作狀況,並針對網路分享效率作分析。而在大規模的轉播案例中,我們除了做網路傳輸狀況及分享效果的分析外,也針對了地域分布,ISP提供者的不同做統計,並對於不同的ISP用戶,做其網路分享效果及收看時間數據的比較。
最後,我們也利用量測結果,提出對於系統的改善建議,用以改善並增進系統效能。
