This study was conducted using a self-affirmation experiment with domestic violence participants in a prison in Taiwan. The 54 participants were randomly assigned into experimental group (with self-affirmation group) and control group (without self-affirmation group), and after the experimental manipulation, the domestic violence participants in both groups received the same cognitive education group program. The results of the study revealed that self-affirmation manipulated the cognitive education program. The results of the study revealed that self-affirmation manipulation increased participants' approval of the program, but decreased participants' propensity to change behavior. The researcher discusses the results of the study and makes recommendations for practice and future research.
