本篇論文中,主要是設計一個能有效耦合光纖與矽通道波導的波導元件。透過directional couple的基本理論,設計一大小模態尺寸有極大差異的兩波導能有相近的neff,已獲得極高的耦合效率。
主要設計的想法是利用多層的SiN,在層與層之間成長低折射率的SiO2,藉此獲得一個大模態而低等效折射率的大尺寸波導,來耦合光纖光源,再設計一單層SiN其等效折射率能與這大尺寸的波導相近,即可把能量從多層的SiN耦合至單層的SiN,最後再設計一模態大小能與此單層SiN匹配的矽通道波導,來完成我們這個耦合元件的目的,即是將光纖的光源有效率的打入矽通道波導之中。
