Climate change is a major issue facing the world today. Green finance is a strategy that involves using financial resources to support environmentally-friendly products and activities with the goal of promoting sustainable development and mitigating the negative impacts of climate change. In Thailand, green finance presents opportunities to support the country's transition to a more environmentally friendly economy. This study aims to examine the current state of green finance in Thailand, identify potential opportunities and challenges, and propose recommendations to promote its growth. The study will follow a qualitative research approach using secondary data sources, such as academic journals, reports, and databases, to explore existing literature and information on green finance and sustainable development in Thailand.
The data found that green finance in Thailand offers various benefits for sustainable development, including access to capital for environmentally and socially responsible projects such as renewable energy and energy efficiency. Apart from that, Thailand also has plenty of green investment opportunities, especially in renewable energy, transportation, and energy-efficient buildings. However, main Challenges to implementing green finance in Thailand are limited awareness and understanding of green finance, no clear regulatory framework, lack of capacity and expertise, and limited availability of green financial products and services. Political and economic instability can also create uncertainty and risk for investors.
