在生物界,測量兩群落相似性的方法中,最常使用到的就是共同種數估計量。利用觀察到的物種作為實際物種數的估計量會有低估現象,因為有些物種沒有觀察到,自然而然會低估實際上的物種數,在文獻中提到許多相似性指標的測量方法以及共同種估計量的估計方法,本文回顧其中兩種估計方法,一為樣本涵蓋率法,首先把群落分為豐富種與稀有種兩部份,再使用稀有種估計未觀察到的物種,最後加上豐富種完成估計,另一種則是使用數學上Laplace積分而推導出來的估計量。
樣本涵蓋率估計量使用共相關係數以代表物種豐富度變異,本文改使用更直觀的相關係數重新推導,並進而推廣至三個群落的共同種估計,同樣的,Laplace法估計量也可以推廣至三群落估計共同種。故本文將先對樣本涵蓋率估計量做修正與推廣,最後與Laplace法做比較,歸納出兩者的異同與優劣表現,最後再將此兩種方法的估計量應用在原生動物與森林實例中比較。
