本研究旨在探討國小高年級學童的挫折容忍力、內外控信念與A型行為特徵之關係。本研究採問卷調查法進行，研究樣本為桃園縣三所國小的534名高年級學童，研究工具包括「挫折容忍力量表」、「國小學童控制信念量表」與「兒童A型量表」等，以三因子多變量變異數分析、典型相關與多元逐步迴歸等方法進行統計分析。
本研究的主要發現有：（一）不同性別的學童在挫折容忍力上有顯著差異，男學童在「困難偏好傾向」與在「挫折後情感反應」向度上的分數都顯著高於女學童；但在年級上並無顯著差異存在。（二）在內外控方面，五年級受試者中發現男學童在內外控信念的反應平均數顯著高於女學童，六年級則未發現性別差異；另一方面也發現五年級男學童的內外控信念的反應平均數顯著高於六年級男學童，而女學童部分則未發現年級差異。（三）不同性別的學童在A型行為特徵上有顯著差異，女學童不論在「努力競爭與成就」、在「攻擊性與敵意」或在「時間緊迫感」向度上的反應平均數皆高於男學童的反應平均數；但在年級上並無顯著的差異。（四）本研究以典型相關分析來說明挫折容忍力、內外控信念與A型行為特徵之間的可能關聯模式。（五）國小學童的「努力競爭與成就」、「正向認知」、性別、「攻擊性與敵意」、「自我掌控」對挫折容忍力具有預測力。

The main purpose of this study was to examine the relationships among frustration tolerance, locus of control and Type A behaviors for senior students in elementary school. A total of 534 fifth and sixth grades’ students were sampled from three elementary schools in Taoyuan. The subjects were asked to fill a set of instruments, including Frustration Tolerance Scale, Children Locus of Control Scale, and Children Type A Scale. The multivariate analysis of variance, canonical correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were used to analyze the data. The main findings of the study were as follows:
First, a significant gender difference was found in frustration tolerance, in which males had higher ratings than females on the subscales of “difficult choice” and “emotional responses after frustration.” Yet, no grade difference was found in frustration tolerance.
Second, males were tended to internal control than females for the fifth grade students, but no gender difference was found for the sixth grade students. On the other hand, the fifth grade males were tended to internal control than the sixth grade males, yet no grade difference was found for girls.
Third, gender differences were found in Type A behaviors, in which females had higher ratings than males on the subscales of “competitiveness and achievement,” “aggressiveness and hostility” and “Time urgency.” Yet, no grade difference was found in Type A behaviors.
Forth, canonical correlation analysis was used to test possible path-correlations among frustration tolerance, locus of control, and Type A Behaviors.
Finally, “competitiveness and achievement”, “positive cognition”, “gender”, “aggressiveness and hostility,” and “self-control” were effective predictors toward elementary school students’ frustration tolerance.
