本研究旨在瞭解青少年人格特質與憂鬱傾向之相關研究。採問卷調查法，以分層叢集取樣的方式對全台灣北、中、南、東地區共834位樣本學生進行調查，回收問卷共811份，問卷回收率達97.24%，在剔除廢卷後，得有效問卷共511份，有效問卷率為63.01%。在研究工具方面，本研究使用三項工具，即個人基本資料表、中文版基本人格量表和青少年憂鬱量表。調查所得結果分別採用描述統計、單因子重複量數變異數分析、單因子多變項變異數分析、積差相關法、典型相關法、逐步多元迴歸等統計方法加以分析。研究結果顯示如下：
（一）青少年的憂鬱傾向、人格特質略低於中等程度，顯示多數青少年偏向健康的心理狀態。
（二）不同性別之青少年在「憂鬱煩躁情緒」、「自尊及認知功能低」以及「身體抱怨與反應遲滯」上達顯著差異，且女生高於男生；不同年級、家庭結構和家庭社經地位之青少年在憂鬱傾向上均未達顯著差異。
（三）不同性別之青少年在「慮病」、「抑鬱」和「焦慮」上達顯著差異，女生高於男生；不同年級、家庭結構之青少年在人格特質上未達顯著差異；不同社經地位之青少年在「自貶」上達顯著差異，低社經地位高於高社經地位之青少年。
（四）人格特質各分層面與憂鬱傾向各分層面間均呈現正相關，亦即負向特質愈明顯，則憂鬱傾向愈高。
（五）整體青少年人格特質與憂鬱傾向之間有二組顯著的典型相關，但以第一條路徑為主，其解釋量佔總變異量的48.607%；國中男生人格特質與憂鬱傾向具一組顯著的典型相關，其解釋量佔總變異量的51.143%；國中女生人格特質與憂鬱傾向具二組顯著的典型相關，但以第一條路徑為主，其解釋量佔總變異量的46.9%。
（六）以青少年個人背景變項、人格特質預測憂鬱傾向，研究結果發現「異常」、「慮病」、「內向」、「迫害感」和「焦慮」達顯著水準，其多元相關係數為.782，故能聯合預測憂鬱傾向的61.2％。

The main purpose of this study was to explore the
relationship between personality traits and depression tendency among adolescents. Questionnaire survey was used as the method of this study. Subjects of 834 junior high school students in Taiwan were selected by stratified
cluster sampling. The valide response rate was 63.01%. The instruments applied in this study included “Basic Information Inventory”, “Chinese Basic Personality Inventory”, and “Adolescent Depression Scale”. Data obtained in this study were analyzed by descriptive statistic, one-way repeated measures ANOVA, one-way MANOVA, pearson product-moment Correlation, Canonical Correlation, and Multiple regression analysis. We discover a strong
relation between personality traits and depression tendency among adolescents. From such a result, this paper suggests a further research on the role of school counseling.
