The purpose of this study was to explore the relationships among stress in life, family functioning, negative emotions, and illicit drug use among college students, as well as the moderating effect of resilience.
A convenience sampling snowball sampling survey method and questionnaire applied to collect data. The sample consisted of college students aged 18 to 30. The samples were divided into a case group consisting of illicit drug users and a control group consisting of non-users. The case group comprised 55 individuals, while the control group comprised 66 individuals. The research instruments included the "Adolescent Illicit Drug Use Scale," "Life Stressor Scale," "Family Functioning Scale," "Adolescent Resilience Scale," and "Brief Symptom Rating Scale."
The data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, chi-square tests, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Pearson's correlation analysis, and regression analysis. The research findings are as follows:
    1. College students of different genders showed significant differences in illicit drug use.
    2. Life stress, family functioning, and negative emotions of college students were not significantly correlated with illicit drug use.
    3. Life stress and family functioning of college students could not effectively predict illicit drug use.
    4. Negative emotions of college students could effectively predict illicit drug use.
    5. Resilience could not moderate the relationships between life stress, family functioning, negative emotions, and illicit drug use.
Finally, based on these results, the study provides discussions and specific recommendations for the general public and future research.
