本研究針對馬來西亞吉隆坡向陽大專加拿大預科課程之國際學生為研究對象。以學習動機、跨文化適應、學習滿意度三個面向來探討國際學生為何選擇馬來西亞就讀、選擇向陽大專課程之動機、在為期一年之留學課程後的學習滿意度。研究發現期望可提供國際學校在競爭激烈的教育巿場裡作為未來招生策略參考。
研究者以問卷與訪談的方式來分析馬來西亞國際學生就讀大學預科課程之就學動機、跨文化適應與學習成效。研究主要的發現:
1.國際學生給予加拿大國際預科課程高度正向評價。
2.國際學生選擇就讀加拿大國際預科課程CIMP的動機主要是喜歡加拿大預科課程70%作業30%考試的課程設計,和較廣的升學管道。
3.大部分國際學生具備良好的跨文化適應能力,同時馬來西亞多元種族環境可以增強留學生國際觀。
根據以上研究發現,本研究對向陽大專、馬來西亞政府和未來研究者提出建議如下:
建議向陽大專加強各科目對學生辨別資訊來源正確性與好壞的能力;馬來西亞政府修正國際學生簽證事務以達到標準化與可預期的流程;而對未來研究者的建議則是到課堂做實際教學,觀察並瞭解國際學生在課堂上的互動,與其對所學課程內容的理解程度,從教師的角度去瞭解國際學生學習成效和跨文化學習狀況,再來比對各科目作業與測驗成績,瞭解學習成效以得到多方面且客觀的研究結果。
This research focused on the application motivation、 cross-cultural adjustment and evaluation of Pre-university Program of international students in the Sunny college (pseudonym) in Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. The research results are expected to provide serve as a reference for international schools to recruit students in the competitive global education market.
The study adopted questionnaire and interviews to collect data to examine students’ Application motivation 、cross-cultural adjustment and Evaluation of Pre-university Program. The study found that:
1. International students have highly positive attitude toward Canadian International Matriculation Programme.
2. The 70% project based and 30% assessment curriculum design and various chances for further education are the main reasons for international students to study here.
3. Majority of the international students are well equipped with cross-cultural competence and the multicultural environments can broaden students’ international perspective.
Suggestions to to the Sunny college、Malaysia Government and future researchers are described separately. For the college, they should develop students’ abilities to evaluate the quality of information sources. Malaysia Government should standardize the process of student visa application and make it clearer. . To have more objective and abundant results, future research may focus on classroom observations, interviews of teachers、as well as to compare the performances in projects and assessments.
