本實驗設計、組裝了一套差分抽氣系統,經測試改進後可以在一端為一大氣壓下,另一端降至1×10-7torr,而實驗得以觀察從大氣壓抽氣後真空腔表面的水氣變化。此系統裝設至國立清華大學加速器館,9SDH-2加速器上進行實驗,利用NRA(19F+1H□4α+16O)方法,偵測水氣樣品表面水氣訊號。實驗中改變曝水量,以及不同氣壓的氮氣等條件,觀察其結果差異。結果顯示曝露較高的水氣時,γ-ray計數值亦較高,但是離子束在較低真空度下會被阻擋或使離子能量改變而無法產生γ-ray,並且可能改變離子束的帶電量使其電流難以量測。
本文中亦討論了此實驗差分抽氣系統中,特殊的氣導及氣流現象。在NRA分析結果方面,討論分析了水汽凝結量、γ-ray計數尖峰值、電流計數之延遲等現象。
