目前台灣鞋廠在接單生產的模式下,大多直接採用國外的鞋碼尺寸資料,使得國內各鞋廠的鞋碼分類不一致,造成鞋碼分類系統無法完全符合國人腳型需求的情形,而國內關於鞋子尺碼標準的制定時間久遠,並沒有隨著國人腳型變化而重新修改,使得消費者在選購鞋子時,浪費相當多的時間成本。國內目前所訂定標準是以既有的人體計測資料庫為主,而這些資料庫多以成人為量測對象,但是對於學齡前兒童與小學生的資料卻相當欠缺,有鑑於此,本研究之研究對象,涵蓋了5至13歲的幼稚園兒童與小學生,包含男童549人以及女童475人,共計1024人,首先建立出國內的足部人體計測資料庫,並利用資料挖礦的方式,建立出一套符合國內幼稚園與國小學生的足型鞋碼系統。人類的足型會因不同的種族、年齡、性別而有所差異,本研究結果指出,兒童足部的生長,不論在性別間及各年齡間,都呈現顯著的差異,因此在建立鞋碼時,將兒童鞋碼區分為5-13歲男童足型鞋碼系統及5-13歲女童足型鞋碼系統,藉此了解男女童在足型上確實有相當的差異,並利用與不同國家標準鞋碼比較的方式,了解不同種族之間足型的差異,也證實了本研究所建立之兒童足型鞋碼系統確實能夠符合目前國內兒童所需。
