  • In the future, an intelligent environment will have many sensor networks deployed in the physical space. An important issue is how to leverage existing sensor resources from different sensor networks to build new services. In this thesis, we propose a middleware for developing such new services. Different from previous works on middleware for distributed services, we focus particularly on location-based services, in which the needed functions and data of the services must be provided by sensor networks of specific areas. By leveraging existing services, our middleware have the following advantages. First, the sensor resources belonging to different sensor networks can be effectively utilized, since each deployed sensor network may be used by many services. Second, the development of services can be simpler and costs of deploying the service may be reduced. We use a case study that tracks the movement of events to show that our system can help the development of new services by using the existing resources.


    在未來的智慧型環境中,會佈建著許多不同的感測網路。在這裡有個重要的議題即是如何有效的利用現存已經佈建在不同感測網路中的感測器資源。在本篇論文裡,我們提出了一個中介軟體能夠讓使用者利用現存的不同感測網路中的感測器資源開發一個新的服務。而我們主要著重於以感測器為基礎及特殊位置之服務,意指此服務需要某些特定區域的感測器資料。而利用現有的感測器資源來開發新的服務,因為每個佈建好的感測網路能被多個不同的服務所使用到,所以感測器資源能夠有效的被利用到。且在開發新的服務時能省下許多的硬體成本,因為不用重新佈建新的感測網路。並且在本篇論文裡,我們以在現實環境中開發一個新的服務為例子,說明如何使用我們所提出的中介軟體利用現有的資源來開發出一個新的以感測器為基礎及特殊位置之服務。
