實驗室未來希望能以玻色-愛因斯坦凝結體(Bose-Einstein condensate, 簡稱BEC)高光學密度的特性,進行電磁誘發透明(electromagnetically induced transparency, 簡稱EIT)相關的研究。然而因為實驗室目前的系統,其BEC是在一個方向會隨時間旋轉的時變磁場所形成之位能阱(time-averaged orbiting potential, 簡稱TOP)中產生,而EIT實驗無法在具有時變磁場的TOP磁陷阱中執行,所以我們希望將BEC存放在光偶極陷阱(optical dipole trap, 簡稱ODT)中,藉以消除時變磁場的影響,而本篇論文主要研究重點是放在ODT的捕捉效率、被ODT捕捉後冷原子的溫度以及其生存時間。我們分別在TOP 3A和TOP 1A的條件下,將原子載入至ODT中。在TOP 3A的條件下,我們可以達到載入效率10.4%、載入原子數約五百萬顆、載入後的溫度約為50μK、生存時間約10s;在TOP 1A的條件下,可以達到載入效率17.5%、載入原子數約為一百五十萬顆、載入後的原子溫度約為25μK、生存時間約11s。
