    Abstract
The purpose of this study was to develop the Social Self-efficacy Scale (SSES) for college students. There were 747 subjects chosen from the universities in Taiwan. The final version of the SSES consists of 40 items, divided into three aspects and seven subscales. To test the reliability and validity of SSES, descriptive statistics, item analysis, factor analysis, MANOVA, and canonical correlation were employed. The results were as follows:
1.The internal reliability of the scale, Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, was .948. The α coefficients of all 7 subscales ranged from .693 to .902. The 2-week test-retest reliability of the whole scale was .772. The internal consistency and stability of SSES were very good.
2.Content validity and construct validity had been found satisfied. Significantly positive correlation was found between SSES and the Intimacy Competence Scale, and negative correlations between SSES and avoidant/anxious attachment subscale.
3.Nation-wise percentile rank and T-score norms based on 747 subjects were provided for the SSES users.
According to the results of the research, suggestions for future research in revising SSES were proposed.
