In recent decades, many studies have focused on the relationship between work and family, but most of them is about the conflict between work and family; however, many studies have found a positive relationship between work and family. With the hit of positive psychology, researchers pay attention to the positive mutual benefit between work and family, and to understand individual subjective well-being. In addition, scholars point out that when the subjective well-being of nationals will be regarded as an important indicator of a good society, and be used to evaluate the individual's subjective view of the life quality. Therefore, many psychologists and economists has also begun to focus on the empirical research of happiness and subjective well-being. Finally, when individuals acquire resources in different fields, they will play other roles at the same time and improve their performance and satisfaction. But when they return to the conflict experience of the individual's own emotional expression, they may include positive, negative, ambivalent and conflict. These internal psychological processes of individuals may further affect the individual's perception of subjective well-being. In the current Chinese literature, there is little research on the theme of ambivalence over emotional expression. It thus results in this research.
The main purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between work-family enrichment and subjective well-being, and the effect of ambivalence over emotional expression moderates on the work-family enrichment to subjective well-being. In this study, husbands and wives in double career family were investigated and data were collected by questionnaire survey. A total of 1105 paper and online questionnaires were sent out, with 920 valid samples. By using the confirmatory factor analysis of structural equation model and the hierarchical regression analysis, the results of the analysis show that: (1) The work-to-family enrichment has a positive significantly influence on subjective well-being. (2) The family-to-work enrichment has a positive significantly influence on subjective well-being. (3) The emotional inhibition don’t moderate the effect of work-family enrichment on subjective well-being. (4) The emotional rumination moderates the effect of work-family enrichment on subjective well-being. Finally, based on the results of the study, it presents theoretical and practical implications, as well as recommendations for follow-up research.
