本研究旨在探討4位已婚且育有年幼子女的乳癌婦女之心理社會調適經驗。欲藉由具有正向調適經驗的乳癌婦女，探討其面臨此重大疾病的威脅時，是如何克服疾病的恐懼和困境，而能達到正向適應。本研究使用現象學取向，並採用深度訪談法為資料蒐集的方法。
研究結果如下：
一、未遭遇復發經驗的乳癌婦女，會經歷「發現腫瘤階段」、「治療階段」與「疾病緩解穩定階段」，雖疾病進入緩解穩定狀態，但仍常處於死亡與復發的陰影下，乳癌婦女須終生與癌症疾病共存。
二、乳癌婦女的心理社會困擾，主要來自罹癌的衝擊以及治療的衝擊，分別是獲知診斷的衝擊、症狀困擾、身體功能的損傷、母職家庭角色的執行困難、身體意象的改變、夫妻關係的改變、復發死亡的恐懼擔憂、與家人分離的情感牽掛、工作生涯的變動，以及家庭經濟的壓力；乳癌婦女因此須承受一連串的壓力和失落，必須運用個人內、外在的資源，不斷的自我調適。
三、癌症疾病帶來的死亡衝擊，促使乳癌婦女尋思疾病的原因和意義，並尋求信仰、生命意義，因而有機會促發個人各層面的成長，罹癌反而成為其人生轉變之契機；若乳癌婦女能以正向角度詮釋疾病的意義，將得以承受疾病所帶來的痛苦。
四、乳癌婦女能否正向調適，受個人內在因應資源所影響，而外在社會支持和資源、信仰靈性資源亦具重要影響力；個人內在因應資源包含正向信念與認知的調整改變，採取問題解決行動和情緒取向的因應方式，能以有意義的目標生活，並能發現獲益或尋獲疾病意義；而外在支持和資源包含先生的接納和支持、病友團體的支持、其他社會網絡的支持和資源，以及正確的醫療資訊；而每個人有其不同因應模式和支持資源。
最後，研究者依據研究結果，分別對助人工作者，以及未來相關研究之進行提出具體建議。

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to explore the psychosocial adjustment experiences of 4 married women who have young children when they were also suffered from breast cancer. The researcher adopted Phenomenology as the research methodology and in-depth interview to collect data.
The major findings are summarized as follows: First, the women who have never confronted a relapse of breast cancer go through a process of diagnosis stage, treatment stage, and remission stage. In spite of their later stable condition, these women still have to live with breast cancer throughout their lives under the anxiety of death and cancer recurrence. Second, the psychosocial distress of the women with breast cancer comes from the impact of disease and treatment, including the impact of the time when cancer was just diagnosed, the distress during the period of treatment, the decline of physical function, the difficulty of motherhood, the change of body image, the sexual relation with the spouse, the worry of cancer recurrence, the emotional bond with the family members, the change of the future career, and the pressure of family finance. The women with breast cancer have to confront with a series of stress and loss, making use of internal and external resources to resist harm from the stressful situations, and continuously making self-adjustment during the process of disease. Third, the cancer brings the shock of death, which leads these women with breast cancer looking for the cause and meaning of disease, pursuing religious belief and the meaning of life, therefore upgrading their personal growth in every aspect, and changing the cancer as a turning point for their lives. By the positive reinterpretation of cancer, these women with breast cancer became able to endure the suffering caused by the disease. Fourth, the factors affecting the positive adjustment of the women with breast cancer lie in the influence of personal inner coping resources, external social network resources, and spiritual religion resources. The personal inner coping resources include the positive belief, cognition changes, problem-solving strategies, emotion-focused coping strategies, directing the women with breast cancer to set up meaningful life goal, to perceive benefits and obtain the meaningfulness from the disease. The external social network resources include the support from husbands, self-help groups, other social network, and the accurate medical information. However, everyone has her own distinct coping strategies, social support and resources.
Finally, according to the results of the present study, some suggestions for counseling practice and future research were addressed.
