  • DVD繼VCD為二十一世紀的媒體新寵兒,DVD擁有VCD約九倍以上的儲存容量(單層記錄層的DVD片),因此它可容納MPEG2影像及多聲道的音軌,大大增加了多媒體的發展。而由於DVD PLAYER和DVD ROM的漸漸普及,DVD前端光電元件PDIC的需求量越來越多。PDIC可以分成PD和TIA兩個部分,PDIC所需要的規格是高增益、頻寬大以及低雜訊,以上規格都是以PD+TIA來要求。增益為PD和TIA二者的增益的乘積,因為PD的增益都不大,增益大多取決於TIA,BJT本身的增益、頻寬都比CMOS大,用BJT來作TIA時,可以用比較簡單的電路,來達到我們所要的規格,且BJT製程中可放入PD,形成PDIC單晶片的要求。不過BJT製程都是以國外廠商為主,且BJT製程因為需要比較多的程序,價格比CMOS貴,PDIC的數量、價格都控制在外國廠商。為了DVD元件成本的降低,我們必須開發便宜又符合規格的PDIC,目前國內製程以便宜的CMOS製程為主,CMOS的電路密度又比BJT高,我們將嘗試由國內CMOS的0.35μM及0.6μM製程製作TIA,採用不同的電路架構,加以設計模擬,送國科會晶片中心製成IC後,再量測這些電路的性能,例如增益、頻寬以及雜訊的大小等等。另外我們參考一些資料,設計PD,並且用TMA軟體模擬PD的特性。我們將使用CMOS的 0.35μM及0.6μM製程製作PD,探討PDIC單晶片的可能性,以降低DVD的製造成本。


    After the generation of VCD, comes the DVD generation. DVD has more 9 times of capacity than VCD in one sided disc. So its large capacity can contain mpeg2 video files and multi-channel sound track, and this makes many application of multimedia.
    DVD player and DVD-ROM are popular in recent years, so the lack of DVD pickup head is important. The pick head mainly consist of two device, one is PD (photodioe) the other is TIA (transimpedance amplifier), and two consist are called PDIC. In the past several years, the pickup head of DVD usually come from foreign, and they are made with BJT process, the price can't be down. So we want to design a PDIC use CMOS process, that's would be more cheaper.
