本文以五月天阿信和施人誠的歌詞創作當作語料來源,運用Lakoff & Johnson(1980)的概念隱喻理論(Conceptual Metaphor Theory)來觀看兩位作詞者在愛情歌詞中所使用的隱喻手法,藉由Stefanowitsch & Gries(2003)的構式搭配詞位分析法(Collostructional Analysis)作為研究方法,將五月天阿信和施人誠的歌詞進行斷詞及詞性標記,探究兩位作詞者在「愛(Na)」、「愛情(Na)」及「情(Na)」結構中搭配詞位的偏好,分析兩位作詞者在愛情隱喻運用上的異同,並與簡嫈倢(2019)針對五月天的研究部分進行對比。
本研究主要發現如下:首先,五月天阿信和施人誠的愛情隱喻選取不同,五月天阿信偏好以直述性及動態情感來詮釋愛,施人誠則善於運用具體隱喻表達愛情;其次,儘管偏好的順序略有不同,但兩位作詞人最常運用的隱喻手法相同,喜歡以「愛情是物品」和「愛情是人」來比喻愛情,但在個別特定的來源域選取上存在些微差異;最後,在研究方法上,語料範圍、條件設定與操作方法會直接影響研究結果,因為這些差異,本研究和簡嫈倢(2019)對五月天歌詞中隱喻的使用分析結果不盡相同。
This study uses the lyrics of Mayday’s Ashin and Derek Shih as its primary corpus, employing Lakoff and Johnson’s (1980) Conceptual Metaphor Theory to examine the metaphors employed by these two lyricists in their love songs. In order to analyze the data in terms of Stefanowitsch and Gries’s (2003) Collostructional Analysis, the lyrics of Ashin and Derek Shih are segmented and tagged for parts of speech. The study investigates their collocational preferences within the structures containing ai4 ‘love’ (Na), ai4qing2 ‘romance’ (Na), and qing2 ‘emotion’ (Na). I analyze the similarities and differences in their use of love metaphors and compare the findings with Chien’s (2019) study on Mayday’s lyrics.
The key findings of this study are as follows: First, Mayday’s Ashin and Derek Shih exhibit distinct preferences in their use of love metaphors. Ashin tends to interpret love through direct statements and dynamic emotional expressions, whereas Derek Shih excels at employing concrete metaphors to depict love. Second, despite slight differences in their preferences, both lyricists frequently use the same metaphorical mappings, namely LOVE IS AN OBJECT and LOVE IS A PERSON, to conceptualize love. However, subtle variations exist in their selection of specific source domains. Finally, the scope of data, methodological conditions, and operational processes directly impact research outcomes. Due to these methodological differences, this study presents findings on the use of metaphors in Mayday’s lyrics that are not entirely consistent with Chien (2019).
