摘要
兩性薪資差異一直是大家關注的話題,從1990年後台灣的資料來看,雖然兩性薪資差異有逐漸縮小的趨勢,但製造業與服務業的兩性薪資差異趨勢線始終維持固定的差距,是否因不同的產業特性,使得製造業對男性必然較具優勢,服務業對女性必然較有利?
本研究首先參考Fan and Lui(2003)的假說,由於兩性先天上差異使得各有其相對優勢的部門,假設製造業為體力密集、服務業傾向心智密集,由於男性體力先天條件較女性佳,在製造業較為有利,因此,服務業的兩性薪資差異將小於製造業。在衡量方法上,除採用Fan and Lui (2003)分別將兩性薪資視為相同結構與可能不同結構下觀察,同時參考Field and Eolff (1995)、Oaxaca (2001)將產業視為虛擬變數,用不同的指標衡量產業對兩性薪資的影響。實證結果並不完全支持此說法,吾人推測是由於製造業與服務業並非以體力密集/心智密集作為區分,男性在製造業非表示一定具有優勢,服務業非對女性一定較有利。
爲更了解產業特性與兩性薪資差異的關係,本研究進一步將各產業內的員工分為代表管理階層的白領階級與勞力密集為主的藍領階級,實證結果發現,製造業的白領階級,男性薪資相較高,白領階級女性員工薪資,在服務業相對較高,但藍領階級方面,產業特性對兩性薪資的影響未有明顯的絕對關係。顯示最初資料觀察到製造業與服務業兩性薪資的差距,非兩產業內員工的共同現象,藍領階級在製造業與服務業兩性薪資差異的差距較不具一致性。
