本研究採用文獻分析法、內容分析法及深度訪談等方法，只在探討蘇凡凌教授所創作之「祖先的腳印」合唱交響曲的作品內容；除了發現作品的特性與優點外，同時也分析樂曲，最後提出綜合研究結果。

本研究共分為七個部份：
第一章緒論，說明研究背景與動機、研究目的與待答問題、名詞釋義。

第二章是文獻探討，搜集合唱與管弦樂編曲專書，及與本研究相關的博碩士論文等文獻，特別是實証性的相關研究，期以探討、歸納與批評，作為研究設計的依據。

第三章研究方法與設計，說明本研究採用的方法，並擬定研究架構與流程，提出研究範圍及限制。

第四章為蘇凡凌生平求與及音樂作品，先探討蘇教授的家庭背景與求學歷程，並論述其音樂創作及重要紀事，並探究其創作「祖先的腳印」之背景。

第五章是「祖先的腳印」合唱交響曲之分析，本章分兩大部份，一為合唱編曲技巧，二為管弦樂配器技巧與合唱的結合；合唱編曲技巧又分合唱編曲素材及合唱編曲技巧；希望透過深入的探討，來了解作品的內涵。

第六章是「祖先的腳印」對客家歌謠創新與傳承的影響。

第七章結論與建議，歸結本研究的發現，透過相關文獻的驗証做成結論，並提出建議，以供將來從事相關創作，及推廣歌謠之傳承，或進行類似研究者參考。

Abstract
This study employed methods such as literature analysis, content analysis, and in-depth interviews to examine the content of the choral symphony “The Footprints Of Our Ancestors” composed by Professor Fan-Ling Su. Besides identifying the characteristics and strengths of the composition, the music is also analyzed, and a comprehensive research conclusion is presented.

The study is divided into seven parts:

Chapter 1: Introduction, which explains the research background and motivation, research objectives and questions to be answered, and terminology definitions.

Chapter 2: Literature review, which collects books on choral and orchestral arrangement, as well as relevant research papers such as theses and dissertations, especially empirical studies. The aim is to explore, summarize, and critique these works as the basis for the research design.

Chapter 3: Research methods and design, which describes the methods employed in the study and outlines the research framework and process, including the scope and limitations of the research.

Chapter 4: Fan-Ling Su biography and musical works, which discusses Professor Su family background, educational journey, and significant milestones in music composition. It also explores the background of the composition "The Footprints Of Our Ancestors."

Chapter 5: Analysis of the choral symphony "The Footprints Of Our Ancestors." This chapter is divided into two main parts: choral arrangement techniques and the integration of orchestration techniques and choral elements. The section on choral arrangement techniques covers materials and techniques, aiming to provide an in-depth understanding of the work's content.
 

Chapter 6: The impact of "The Footprints Of Our Ancestors" on the innovation and preservation of Hakka folk songs.

Chapter 7: Conclusion and recommendations, which summarizes the findings of the study, validates them through relevant literature, and provides recommendations for future related creative endeavors, the promotion of folk song preservation, and for researchers conducting similar studies to refer to.
