    The social problems our society is facing like poverty, racism, gender inequality, etc. are complex that one organization alone cannot have a significant impact in these areas. There is growing frustration from organizations tackling these problems as there have been little effect even with the decades of work they have done to solve these problems. John & Kramer introduced the term ‘collective impact’ in a 2011 article published in Stanford Social Innovation Review to describe the collaboration of different organizations to solve complex social problems. Since then, there has been an increase in collective impact initiatives around the world which employ different strategies to try to solve these social problems.

    In the Philippines, a collective impact initiative was formed in 2015 called Zero Extreme Poverty PH 2030 which aims to eliminate extreme poverty in the Philippines by 2030. Assessing the initiative using the collective impact framework, we see that with the exception of a measurement system for strategic learning, they possess the other criteria of the framework. We also see that they are in the early changes stage of the change making process which means that strengthening the initiative’s common agenda and backbone organization are the prime concern of the initiative. Using these findings, we recommended guidelines based on previous literature about best practices in implementing a collective impact initiative.
