本研究旨在探討學生接受一般教學及讀報教學後，對社會學習態度、全球議題的覺知、專注力表現的差異，並探究報紙媒材在社會學習領域教學上是否具有實用性。
本章將以量化數據及質性文字呈現研究結果，以桃園縣國小六年級2個班級學生及2班導師，共50位為研究對象，分別進行26節課的實驗教學。實驗教學前後，兩組學生分別接受「社會領域學習態度量表」及「全球議題的覺知量表」前後測。其間以研究者的「教學觀察紀錄表」、學生及導師的「讀報教育教學成效訪談」及導師的「學生平日閱報觀察紀錄表」，以文字稿方式建立資料，與量表交叉檢視，驗證報紙媒材在社會學習領域教學上的實用性。歸納分析結果，得到以下研究發現：
一、社會學習領域學習態度受讀報教學法的影響，讀報教學組的學生在社會領域學習態度的表現比一般教學組的學生正向、積極。
二、讀報教學對於學生全球議題覺知是有影響的。
三、運用報紙補充教學，學生專注力高，實驗組學生比對照組學生專注，在進行讀報教學時，實驗組討論的態度也較平日熱絡。
四、報紙媒材運用至教學，具有實質價值。因此教學應與生活時事緊密結合、報導內容可以增補課本資料的不足、更能建立世界公民的素養並強化語文能力。

Abstract
The influences of the students’ newspaper-reading on their performance on the three areas – attitude for social life-related courses, awareness of global issue, and concentration - were studied, and the effectiveness of newspaper media for the classroom instructions of the social life-related courses was explored.

50 students and their 2 teachers participated in this study. The students were from 2 classes of Year 6 in an elementary school in Taoyuan County, Taiwan, R.O.C., and the two teachers were the class-leading tutors respectively for the 2 classes. Each of the participant students were randomly assigned to one of two groups - “High Newspaper-Reading Involvement” and “Low Newspaper-Reading Involvement”, and all of them were asked to complete the “Scale of Attitude for Social Life-related Courses” and “Scale of Global Issue Awareness” before they received 26 sessions of scheduled class instructions planned by this study. During the sessions, the “Log of Teaching Observation” created by the researchers was used to record the participant teachers’ classroom instructions; the form “Interview: The Effectiveness of Newspaper in Eduction” was used by the participant teachers to record their interviews with the participant students; and the “Log of Student’s Newspaper-Reading Observation” were used by the participant teachers to record the newspaper-reading activities. Either the quantitative or qualitative measurements, or both, were adopted for the above completed scales and forms to explore the usefulness of the newspapers for the class teaching of social life-related courses. The findings of this study are summarized as follows:

1. It was found the students’ attitudes for social life-related courses were positively influenced by their newspaper-reading. The “High Involvement” group generally showed more active and positive attitudes than the “Low Involvement” group;
2. It was found the newspaper-reading had influences on the students’ awareness of global issues;
3. It was found the newspaper media helped the students more concentrated in the class, and the “High Involvement” group showed higher concentration and class participation than the “Low Involvement” group; and
4. The findings supported the newspaper media is useful for the campus teaching activities partly because it was asserted the contents of teaching should keep up with the daily life, and the information provided by the newspapers supplement the knowledge provided by the textbooks. It is expected the students shall develop the elements required for an excellent international citizen and enhance their language competence from their regular reading activities.
