似方厚蟹為印度西太平沿地區的廣佈種,但台灣地區關於似方厚蟹生活史的相關研究不多,為了瞭解其生活史,對似方厚蟹進行研究。研究於2006年3月至2007年2月間進行。每月定期至新庄仔紅樹林採樣調查似方厚蟹(Helice subquadrata )生活史,在紅樹林保護區共設置14個樣點,根據定期採樣結果瞭解似方厚蟹之生長參數、棲地偏好以及生活形態。
似方厚蟹為新庄子紅樹林濕地底層的優勢物種之ㄧ,經過一年之調查,共採集到638隻似方厚蟹,雄蟹248隻,雌蟹253隻,幼蟹137隻,雄蟹成體殼甲寬為14.25±4.10mm;雌蟹成體殼甲寬為15.04±4.20mm。雄蟹殼甲寬顯著小於雌蟹,成熟雄蟹數目顯著低於雌蟹,但全體性比與1:1無顯著差異。似方厚蟹為穴居的草食性螃蟹,主食為水筆仔的葉與胎生苗。雖然日間可以看見其出洞覓食,但是其主要活動時間為夜晚。根據雌蟹抱卵觀察及體長頻度分佈分析得知似方厚蟹有兩個生殖高峰,分別位於五月及八月,十月至隔年二月加入母族群的幼蟹數量最多。
根據體長頻度時間序列,推估其個體之本托蘭斐成長方程式。雄蟹為 Lt=24.05〔1-e-1.5(t+0.111)+1.5/2π*sin2π(t- 0.167)〕;雌蟹為Lt=25.55〔1-e-1 (t+0.166)+1/2π*sin2π(t- 0.167)〕。推估最大體長雄蟹為24.05 mm;雌蟹為25.55 mm。個體壽命約為三年,雄蟹死亡率高於雌蟹,約於兩歲時達到性成熟。小型個體偏好棲息在海茄苳林下,而大型個體偏好棲息於水筆仔林下。
The grapsid crab Helice subquadrata widely distributed along the coast of Indo-west Pacific region. In Taiwan, we know little about the life history of Helice subquadrata, and I proceed this study to understand it. The study was conducted from March 2006 to February 2007. The samples were collected once a month in Sin-jhuang-zih Mangrove Forest at 14 stations, in order to understand the growth
parameters, habitat preference and basic life history .
Helice subquadrata was one of dominant species in the benthic habitat of Sin-jhuang-zih Mangrove Forest. For one year of investigation, I had 638 individuals, 248 males, 253 females and 137 juveniles. Male with carapace width
14.25±4.10 mm, female with carapace width 15.04±4.20mm. Female body size was bigger than male significantly. Population size of mature males was smaller than female, but overall sex ratio (M:F) was not different from 1 significantly. Helice subquadrata was a herbivores crab living in burrow, major food source was leaf and propagules of Kandelia obovata. Although they will forage above ground in daytime, but the major activity time was at night. According to observation of ovigerous females and size frequencies distribution of individuals, I found Helice
subquadrata reproduced in May and August. The juvenile recruitment period was lasting from October to February of next year.The Von Bertalanffy growth equation was estimated according to the individual length frequencies of each month. The growth curves of Male was Lt=24.05
[1-e-1.5(t+0.111)+1.5/2π*sin2π(t- 0.167)], and female was Lt=25.55[1-e-1 (t+0.166)+1/2π*sin2π(t-The estimated carapace width upper limit was male with 24.05 mm, and femalewith 25.55 mm. The individuals were sex matured in two years, the mortality rate of male was higher than female. The small crabs prefered the habitat undercover by
Avicennia marina forest; bigger crabs prefered the habitat undercover by Kandelia obovata.
