Investigation on current situation of early intervention
in family-centered practical work
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the perceptive cognition of the early intervention service providers and their current status of execution on family-centered services as well as the factors that may influence their practical work of family-centered early intervention. A questionnaire on the current practical working status of family-centered early intervension was designed by the researcher and administered as the research instrument for the study. Purposive sampling was used to select the subjects of the study from the pool of the early treatment institutions that passed the evaluation of “Wang Zhan Yang Social Welfare Foundation” in 2019 and early intervention services providers of early treatment service organizations from counties and cities which were announced by the Department of Social and Family Affairs, Ministry of Health and Welfare in 2020. A total of 475 questionaires was sent out to the subjects with the 428 valid responses in return. The results from the statistical analysis of the collected data were as the following:
1.The overall perceptive cognition level of family-centered early intervention services providers is extremely high. Among them the “family involvement” is the highest and “executive belief” is the lowest.
2.The early intervention services providers may have different perceptive cognition level on each aspects of family-centered services according to their individual backgrounds.
3.The overall execution level on practical work of family-centered early intervention services providers is above the median. Among them, “partnership with family” is the highest while the “family advantage application” is the lowest.
4.The early intervention services providers may have different execution level on family-centered practical work according to their individual backgrounds.
5.A low correlation was found between perceptive cognition on family-centered services and execution on family-centered practical work of early intervention service providers. In other words, the perceptive cognition on family-centered services of early intervention service providers has low influence on the execution on family-centered practical work.
6.The factors that early intervention service providers consider that may influence family-centered practical work include: family traits (such as cultural values, education, economic conditions, and cooperate willingness, etc.), personal values and beliefs of early treatment service providers, perceptive cognition on family-centered of early treatment service providers, practical experiences of early treatment service providers, human resources of professional team on early intervention, responsibility of the cases of the early treatment service providers, resources of the family-centered related training, and supervision resources during service process.
