粘巴達假日學校(Retroplace of Childhood)以「帶給孩子充滿創造力和生命力的快樂童年」為其辦學目標。本研究透過參與觀察,了解其辦學動機、理念、實踐方式。
研究發現,作為一間「學校、農場、遊戲場」三位一體的學校,假日學校是兒童好奇與勇氣的沃野,一個讓兒童自由遊戲、探索魔法場域。兒童在其中玩得很盡興,也透過探索和遊戲,發展人際互動、身體知能、平衡情緒與壓力,更克服對髒、受傷、輸等諸多恐懼。透過大人對遊戲的介入,使部分兒童願意解除心理武裝,轉化其敵我意識。
童年廣場的魔法,是由以下三面向的條件所共構:時間面的下課、空間面的遊戲場、以及文化面的粘巴達童年文化。下課是假日學校最重要的核心精神,意味著兒童享有探索與遊戲的自由。老師則透過拋話語與過招對小孩循循善誘。作為遊戲場的童年廣場,保留大量自然元素,讓在現代化過程中經常被排除的自然,得以再次成為兒童所易於觸及的對象。自然給予兒童驚奇與感動,培養了兒童對事物好奇的好胃口。粘巴達童年文化的塑造,則得力於在十三年校務發展歷程中,累積的經驗與觀點;向鄉土文化汲取的豐富養分,也以粘巴達教師團為信使,傳遞了其中的意識狀態。
The “Retroplace of Childhood”is a school in Hsinchu, Taiwan. It aims to create a happy childhood for children. It is not only a school and a farm, but also a playground, where children can learn and explore while playing. Through methods of participant observation and documentary research, this case study attempts to identify characteristics of the“Retroplace of Childhood” school, to reveal its philosophy and ways of operation, and to discuss the significance of such a school in contemporary society.
It is found that the“Childhood Square” of the school is constructed as a magic space, where children enjoy playing, developing interpersonal skills and bodily-kinesthetic intelligence. In addition, they balance emotions and stress through play, overcome the fear of dirt, being hurt, and failure. Gradually, they become brave to explore. On the one hand, children's curiosity is cultivated naturally by being exposed to nature; on the other hand, their competitive consciousness is transformed in playing the games designed by teachers.
Three elements that form the magic space are: the spirit of free playing during break time, the natural playground, and the unique childhood culture of the school. Among them, the main spirit of the“Retroplace of Childhood” is the spirit of free playing during break time. Teachers lead or induce children to“let things happen”during break time as well as in class time. The second element -- "Childhood Square" playground is natural and primitive, where children can access natural stuff easily, whereas the special childhood culture of the school is nourished by traditional Taiwanese culture, such as the retrospective field games, children rhymes and stories.
