台灣為一個高度發展的資訊科技產業國家,電信業是其基礎建設重要的一環,然而,台灣現行的五大電信業者(包括中華電信、遠傳電信、台灣大哥大、亞太電信及台灣之星)持續面臨著一些發展困境。首先是競爭壓力,五大電信業者在台灣既有市場上激烈的競爭,導致市場份額的分散和營收的下降,此外,政府也鼓勵新進業者進入市場,進一步加劇了競爭,使得業者必須不斷地創新和提高服務品質,以吸引和保留用戶。其次,電信業者持續被迫降低價格但提高服務內容(網路速度提高或流量吃到飽),然而,此舉對於業者的利潤和資本投資造成了很大的影響。維持高品質的服務需要大量的資金投入,例如擴展網路基礎設施、提升網路速度和頻寬等,價格壓力進一步影響了業務的發展和創新能力。
隨著科技的不斷進步,新興技術如5G、物聯網(AIoT)和元宇宙的應用日益廣泛,「傳統電信轉型」一直為五大電信業者努力的目標,然而,現有文獻對於傳統電信轉型的具體作法及可能面臨的問題所談甚少。本研究以台灣五大電信產業之一的A公司為對象,探討作為相對前三大電信(中華電信、遠傳電信、台灣大哥大)用戶及資源較少的企業,分析A公司如何透過XLAND元宇宙雲端平台,整合既有內部資源及擴大產業合作之策略,打造新型態的電信應用服務,發展出差異化以擴大競爭優勢。
本研究採用個案研究法,透過自身產業經驗及觀察法蒐集初級資料,並透過整理A公司公開企業資料、產業分析報告、理論文獻等方式搜集次級資料。經研究個案公司發現,轉型的過程中必然會面臨到跨界人力資源管理、企業內部資源整合、外部產業合作及傳統品牌印象等問題。A公司透過外部人才招募、內部員工培訓、專業性分級及異業合作等策略,逐步在各領域發展扮演極重要的角色,包括智慧醫療、智慧行銷、智慧城市、智慧製造、智慧交通等。
Taiwan is a country with highly-developed information technology industry, and the telecommunications industry is an important part of its infrastructure. However, the current five major telecom companies in Taiwan, including Chunghwa Telecom, Far EasTone, Taiwan Mobile, Asia Pacific Telecom and Taiwan Star, continue to face some difficulties in their developments. The first thing is the competitive pressure. The five major telecom companies compete fiercely on the existing market in Taiwan, leading to the dispersion of market share and the decline of revenue. In addition, the government encourages new entrants to enter the market, which further intensifies competition and makes the existing companies to create more innovations and improve service quality so as to attract and retain users. Secondly, telecom companies keep being forced to lower prices but improve the service they offer, such as speeding up the Internet connection or providing unlimited data plan; however, this has had a significant impact on the companies' profits and capital investment. It requires a lot of funds to maintain high-quality services, such as expanding network infrastructure, improving internet speed and bandwidth, etc. Pricing pressure affects business development and innovation capabilities.
With continuous technological advancements, emerging technologies such as 5G, the Internet of Things (AIoT) and Metaverse are increasingly widely used. "Transformation of Traditional Telecoms" has always been the goal of the five major telecom companies. However, the existing literature rarely focuses on the specific methods these companies have used and the problems they may face. This study takes A telecom company, one of the five largest telecom companies in Taiwan, as an example. The study looks into how A telecom company, having fewer users and resources than the top three telecom companies (Chunghwa Telecom, Far EasTone, and Taiwan Mobile), use XLAND-Metaverse cloud platform to integrate existing internal resources, strengthen industrial cooperation strategies, create new types of telecom application services and develop differentiation to increase competitive advantages.
This study adopts the method of case study. I collect primary data through my personal experience and observation method. The secondary data is collected by sorting out the public data from A telecom company, industry analysis reports, theoretical literature, etc. This study reveals that A telecom company has faced issues such as cross-disciplinary human resource management, internal resource integration, external industry cooperation, and traditional brand image during the process of transformation. A telecom company use various strategies such as external recruitment, internal employee training, professional classification, and cross-industry cooperation in order to gradually play an important role in various fields, including smart medical care, smart marketing, smart city, smart manufacturing, smart transportation.
