摘 要
根據對國小本土語言教學現場的觀察與體悟,學生對語言所抱持的態度與其學習動機及成效息息相關,故了解當前國小高年級學生對各種語言抱持何種態度是一個相當有助益的研究題目。本研究以變語配對法作為主要研究工具,輔以直接問卷及個案訪談等多種調查技巧,針對新竹縣上舘國小高年級不同性別、自認族群、家長常用語言及本土語言選修課程科目的學生,調查受測者對國語、英語、閩南語、客語等四種語言之語言態度。
本研究之結果可分為兩部分:在語言地位方面,此地區受測學生普遍認為英語的語言地位較高,國語及客語的語言地位在多數分類中居次、而閩南語的語言地位在各分類變項相對不佳;在語言的內聚力方面則可以看出,國語及客語的語言內聚力有較高的趨勢,而英語及閩南語的語言內聚力則相對偏低。
最後,由於利用變語配對法針對國內語系進行的語言態度研究較為少見,而將其應用在國小受測者的研究更近乎闕如,本研究之主要貢獻有二:其一,在於利用變語配對法搭配多種調查技巧,有效測得上舘國小高年級學生之語言態度,所得研究結果及分析具參考價值;其二,由於本研究之對象為竹東鎮上舘國小的學生,生活地區屬於客家聚落,而當前客語高度集中的聚落在臺灣為相對少數的狀況下,針對客家聚落收集其語言態度數據,輔以分析歸納並提出研究建議,具有一定之意義。
Abstract
Based on the native language teaching experience and observation at elementary schools, the language attitude of a student has an impact on learning motivation and learning attitude. Hence, it is important to understand the language attitude of elementary school students when it comes to native language teaching. In this research, we use Matched-guise Technique along with questionnaire, interviews and other survey techniques on senior elementary school students. The target samples came from Shan-Quan Elementary School of Hsinchu County. The samples cover senior elementary school students from both genders, across various Taiwanese conventional ethnic groups, speaking different dialects at home, and taking different native language courses. Moreover, the attitude towards four languages including Mandarin, English, Taiwanese Hokkien, and Hakka is surveyed in this research.
After conducting the research on the samples, the result includes two parts: As for language status, English has the highest language status in general. Mandarin and Hakka follow in most sample background categories. Taiwanese Hokkien has the lower status in general. As for language solidarity, Mandarin and Hakka have topped over Taiwanese Hokkien and English.
Matched-guise Technique is rarely applied on the research targeting Taiwanese languages, especially for elementary school students. The main contributions of this research are two fold. First, with Matched-guise Technique and various survey techniques, this research successfully obtains the language attitude of the target elementary school students. The research result and the discussions give valuable references. Secondly, Shan-Quan Elementary School is located at Zhudong, which is a conventional Hakka village in Hsinchu County. It is relatively difficult to find a similar location with dense Hakka population in other regions of Taiwan. Hence, the experiment data and related suggestions also serve as valuable references for future research topics.
