The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of power fitness yoga training on the concentrations of hormones and anti-oxidative status in postmenopausal women. Thirty healthy postmenopausal women participants were randomly assigned to two groups .Fifteen subjects were in the experimental group (age=55.20 ± 5.77yrs, ht=154 .17±4.44cm, wt=55.13 ±6.12kg), who attended the power fitness yoga training at 74.93 ± 3.31%HRmax for 90 minutes per day, 3 days per week for 12 weeks. Fifteen subjects were in the control group (age=56.53 ± 5.11yrs, ht=155 .17±4.03cm, wt=56.31 ±6.67kg), who were arranged not to accept the training. All subjects were instructed to carry pedometers , to record dietary diet and weight for the duration of the study, and to monitor their daily physical activity and dietary control. Pre-and-post tsets were employed to measure the concentrations of salivary progesterone, testosterone, cortisol and serum haptoglobin. The data were assessed by one-way analysis of covariance(one-way ANCOVA).
The results of the study were shown as follows:
    1. The concentration of progesterone was significantly increased (p<.05).
    2. The concentrations of testosterone, cortisol, testosterone /cortisol ratio( T/C ratio) did not change significantly (p>.05).
    3. The concentration of haptoglobin was significantly increased (p<.05).
The findings of the present study suggest that 12 weeks of moderate-intensity power fitness yoga in postmenopausal women may be helpful: (1) to reduse the risks of coronary heart disease, breast cancer, endometrial cancer; (2) to avoid being tired, nervous, and stressful due to overtraining ; (3) to enhance anti-oxidative status.
