父親的往生開啟了我的這段生命敘說，此敘說探究之目的係讓自己有機會再看清楚個人的成人發展；自己在成為父親後的人子角色上的變化與省思，以及近十餘年來的父職經歷、在矯正學校的管教生涯與價值信念等的自我回顧與再檢視。
我的這段故事共由 37 個小文本所組成，其中主要敘說著近十多年來父職經歷的故事。在兒子尚小幼童時期、我仍會有著“虎爸”的管教思惟，然之後的教養觀也開始出現位移，後來對待兒子的方式也期許自己去掉“父親威嚴”的角色，多與之似朋友般的互動，不勉強兒子、不藉條件交換要他去行動甚麼，希兒子也可以培養自主思考並選擇，他是他自己生命的主體，我從陪伴成長中能與之互為主體。我雖是司法管教人員的威權角色，又多披著“魔鬼教頭”的陽剛面罩，心裏卻也常感慨著學生們的“胡蘿蔔蹲”背景與際遇，或許我無力真能“矯正”其日後皆可回歸於正常社會，但期許自己能在這群青少年於受感化教育的階段裏，對之關懷、接納，真誠地陪伴他們走一段路。
父親已往生，很感念其成就「最後一面」的父子情緣，願將其置於「天」之心理位置─浩瀚無際、卻不可觸及；我還有母親，比喻為「地」─提醒著自己雙腳仍行之於這片土地上。
