In IoT development, suppliers in supply chain are all eager to build their own ecosystem. Companies around the world are rushing to become the standard. As an expert at process innovation, how can MediaTek advance in fluid phase of IoT development? “Shanzai model” was successful for ants’ army in obvious killer application. Does it work for the types of micro firms or even individual developer of customers?
This research explored a new type of platform raised by social production through case studies to discuss the effect of major variables on product commercialization. We collected the blog articles from “makerpro”, official documents, and official blog articles of two platforms. In addition, we used semi-structured interview to take additional data from 15 platform users.
In the research result,we found that the technology is not the most critical factor anymore. It is important to build the ecosystem with the manufacturing resource integration. In this studies, we provided the critical factors to makers in three stages and the effect on product commercialization. This model will prove factors and strategies which enterprises in ecosystem attempt to position itself along the control continuum.
