There has been extensive investigation and research on music
learners,in the field of music education, using goal setting,
self-monitoring,as a well as adjustment of selfawareness and
motivation to become independent self-regulated learners.
However, research on helping students enhance self-regulated
learning in piano teaching is still lack.In the study, three
elementary and junior high school students underwent twelve
weeks of qualitative data mining research. The finding obtained from video recordings, interviews, discussion, and
teachinglog were generalized and analyzed to investigate
the way in which the self-regulated learning theory can be
applied to piano teaching as well as its impact on teaching effectiveness.
The result indicate that the self-regulated learning theory
can indeed be applied to piano teaching and that self-regulated learning capabilities of piano students should be
developed by strengthening their skills in the following
areas: self-awareness, strategic thinking, self-efficacy,
and self-reflection. Furthermore, there is a teaching effectiveness when helping learners with the promotion of
learning motivation, self-efficacy, use of practice strategies, and establishment of a behavior model for
practicing. Future research should focus on different ages and conduct analysis based on the type and method
of practice strategies adopted by learners.
The findings can serve as reference and assist those who conduct piano teaching lessons.
