While manufacturing the light guide plate, single crystal diamond tool is often selected to produce surface structure on the die core. Since the surface profile is determined by the tool’s shape, the tool wear become a crucial problem. However, we still rely on machinist’s experience to judge the tool is useable or not. This paper provides a further research for the optical scattering monitoring method proposed by Hui-Chun Tseng et al. As the results of the experiment show, while monitoring workpiece with cutting fluid, the incident angle of laser should be as small as possible. Also, the amount of cutting fluid should be as little as possible. Last, whether there is cutting fluid or not, the power of scattering light increase as the tool’s nose radius increase, which means the monitoring method works.
